Spring is just around the corner. As things get warmer, many people are going to be tackling seasonal to-do lists. If you have pets, you’ll probably have a few extra things to take care of. In this article, a local Spring Hill, TN vet lists some things to add to your agenda.
Laundry
Give your furry friend’s bedding a good washing. Use a hypoallergenic detergent and hot water, and hang or tumble dry. If you have a heavy shedder, add a throw blanket or slipcover that can easily be washed.
Clothes
Does your canine pal wear jackets when it’s cold out? Wash Fido’s winter clothes before storing them away. You’ll also want to check for and repair small rips or tears.
Toys
Don’t forget to clean your pet’s toys! Plushies should be machine washable, though you will need to check the label instructions first. Most rubber and plastic toys can go into the dishwasher. You don’t need to add soap: just use the hottest setting, and let the steam do the work. For rope toys, remove any metal pieces, soak it with water, and microwave it on high for a minute.
Fur Busting
You may be dealing with more fur than usual as your pet changes into their summer outfit. Vacuuming daily and changing your air filters will help quite a lot with this. If you have fur stuck to your furniture, you can use a squeegee, rubber dish gloves, or damp sponge to clean it off.
Windows
Does your canine buddy like making nose art on windows? Newspaper and vinegar will get these off and leave your windows shiny and clean.
Mud Busting
According to the Law of Dog, as soon as you clean your floor, Fido will immediately cover it in muddy pawprints. One thing that can help is to put a thick mat outside the door you and your dog use. Bath mats are good for this, as they hold a lot of water and do a decent job at cleaning those furry feet. You may also want to get into the habit of wiping your canine companion’s feet down before you bring him. If your pooch is a Very Good Boy, you may be able to teach him to clean his paws!
